044 - [check your pockets]
phone
you love your phone because it has everything in it you hate your phone because it has everything in it. it's probably the most touched item of yours by a long margin. you feel anxious when it's not on you.
it's grown to be somewhat of a cursed item for you. so much of your life is in it. so many memories you've never quite brought yourself to look at.
keys
check your keyring. one house key you use often. one house key you gave away. one trinket, which you found on the ground and carried just long enough to get attached too. earplugs, even though you haven't been to a show in months. all the other keys, all for the same house, all unused. the key you promised to a friend months ago.
at most points in your life, you've had someone else's keys on your keyring, too. it's an odd feeling to realise you don't anymore.
wallet
no it isn't.
you haven't had it for a while, in fact. did you lose it? what are you going to do.
what was in it? the id for someone that used to be you, which is maybe bad. your bank card, in case someone wants to steal thirty dollars. and then there's the xvnx cnupfgzhb complete with its jmnft avhu of pdhr joowt and your jzzudlvvuu that you never got to use.
you don't really want to think about losing those. you'd really thought you could hold onto those for a long time, longer than you frankly deserved.
maybe it's just under the couch or something. you still haven't looked.

you knew from a very young age that you weren't going to die of natural causes
